Data Engineer assigned to your roadmap.
A Data Engineer builds the pipelines that move data from where it is created to where it can be used, and keeps them running when upstream systems change without warning.
Assigned under one service agreement with a minimum monthly capacity in hours, run by a service delivery manager in Chiang Mai, Thailand — five hours ahead of Northern Europe.
This role is delivered as part of our data engineering services. Take the role on its own, or the whole discipline as one delivery team.
What a Data Engineer does on a managed data engineering team.
Skills and scope are agreed before delivery starts, so the first sprint is productive rather than a ramp-up month. The work runs to the same backlog, the same repositories and the same definition of done as your own team's.
Data Engineer skills and technology we assign for
-
Building batch and streaming pipelines from source systems into your warehouse.
-
Data quality testing and alerting, so a broken load surfaces before a report does.
-
Pipeline maintenance as schemas change upstream, which is most of the ongoing work.
-
Backfilling historical data when a pipeline changes shape, without double-counting.
-
Managing schema evolution so a downstream model does not break silently on a new column.
Seniority levels we assign.
Mid to senior. Pipeline design errors surface months later, which is an argument for experience. Seniority is one of the inputs behind the committed monthly capacity written into your agreement.
When a Data Engineer is the right assignment.
The core data assignment, and usually the first one. On an ongoing roadmap this role is most often assigned alongside an Analytics Engineer or an ETL Developer. All 4 roles in this service line can sit on the same agreement, and capacity moves between them at the monthly cycle rather than requiring a new contract. The work is delivered as part of managed data services at Azendo.
Questions about assigning a Data Engineer.
Can you take over pipelines someone else built?
That is the usual starting point. Most engagements begin with something undocumented that the original author has left behind.
Batch or streaming?
Batch unless there is a real-time requirement. Streaming is frequently adopted where nightly batch would have been sufficient and cheaper.
Add data engineer capacity to your roadmap.
Tell us the scope and the stack. We come back with the profile, the capacity and what the first month looks like, or you can talk to a service delivery manager first.
