# UiPath.

UiPath is a robotic process automation platform. Software robots drive applications the way a person would — clicking, typing, reading screens — with an orchestrator managing scheduling, queues and logging across a fleet.

## Where UiPath fits on a long engagement.

RPA exists because integration is often impossible rather than merely difficult. A system with no API, a vendor who will not provide one, or a contract that forbids direct database access all leave the user interface as the only available surface. Driving that interface is a pragmatic answer to a real constraint.

The fragility is inherent and should be planned for rather than denied. Automation depending on screen layout breaks when the vendor ships an update, and a robot that silently does the wrong thing after a layout change is worse than one that stops. Selector strategy and failure detection matter more than the happy path.
