[Skills](https://azendo.co/skills/) APIs and integration

# Slack API.

The Slack API covers messaging, interactive components, slash commands, workflow steps and events, letting applications post into channels and respond to user interaction inside Slack.

## Where Slack API fits on a long engagement.

Slack is where many teams already are, which is why automation surfaced there gets used. An approval that happens in a message, rather than in a system someone has to remember to open, completes faster and more reliably.

Interactive components are what make it more than notifications. Buttons, modals and select menus mean a user can act without leaving the conversation, and an integration that only posts messages is using a small part of what is available.

## What an assigned team does with Slack API.

The three-second response requirement for interactions catches people out. Slack expects an acknowledgement within three seconds, so any real work has to happen asynchronously after an immediate acknowledgement.

Designing for that from the start rather than discovering it in testing is ordinary competence, and it sits inside the capacity assigned under [software development outsourcing](https://azendo.co/services/software-development/).

## What we use Slack API for.

* Approvals that happen in the conversation Actions taken where people already are, rather than in a system they must open.
* Interactive components rather than notifications Buttons and modals so users act without leaving Slack.
* Asynchronous work behind a fast acknowledgement Immediate response then real processing, as the platform requires.

## How Slack API capacity is assigned.

Workplace integration is assigned inside development capacity, with platform response requirements designed for rather than discovered.

## Service lines it sits in

* [AI automation engineering](https://azendo.co/services/ai-automation-engineering/)

Capacity is agreed as a committed monthly capacity across a discipline, not per skill.
