# Robot Framework.

Robot Framework is a keyword-driven automation framework where tests read as structured natural language. Keywords are implemented in Python or Java and composed into higher-level ones, so test cases stay readable by people who do not write code.

## Where Robot Framework fits on a long engagement.

Keyword abstraction is what Robot Framework is for. A test case reading as a sequence of business steps can be reviewed by a domain expert who would not read Python, which matters in regulated environments and in organisations where acceptance is owned outside engineering.

The abstraction has to be maintained to keep paying off. Keywords that accumulate optional arguments and conditional behaviour become a second codebase with none of the tooling a real one has — no type checking, weaker refactoring support, and debugging that is harder than the equivalent Python would be. The readability is real; so is the cost of sustaining it.

## What an assigned team does with Robot Framework.

This framework works best where non-engineers genuinely participate in test definition. Where they do not, the abstraction is overhead paid for a benefit nobody collects, and a conventional framework is the better answer.
